| Off Topic: Going to the Movies Posted: 25 May 2015 12:26 PM PDT My family just got back from going to the movies. We saw the new Avengers movie . . . it was great. But there was one thing that really bugged me. Up in one of the first few rows there was a parent who brought a young child. We were back further so I could not see the child really well, but I would guess they were under the age of 5. Now, I have NOTHING against bringing a child that age to a movie, as long as the movie is something the child can handle. This child OBVIOUSLY did NOT want to sit still for 2 hours, and it seemed that is exactly why the parent sat so far up to the front of the theater. We could hear the child talking through the whole thing, sometimes trying to yell over the sounds of the movie . . . and then of course the movie would go quiet and all you would hear is the child yelling. At one point the child was running back and forth in the theater. I wanted to go up front and tell this parent to get a babysitter so that all of us don't have to listen to their child through the whole movie. It was terrible! Am I the only one that thinks this way? Anyone else agree with me? |
| Posted: 24 May 2015 03:32 PM PDT Today I finally sat down to do something I have been wanting to do for about a year now . . . give my blog a makeover! While I love the black and pink pattern that I had, I have had it for YEARS and it was starting to feel dated. It just feels like it is time for something new. So I sat down with my digital scrapbooking software from MyMemories Suite and started to play around with some ideas. I figured that a new header really would not be that different from doing a digital scrapbook layout. I started by pulling papers and embellishments from all of the different collections I have and put them on to pages of a album I called "Blog Header Ideas". Pulling all of these items into one album was kind of like digging through my scrapbook papers to pull out colors I like . . . they might get used in the layout, and they might not, but with the way I work I have to pull them all out to see what I have and what works together. Then the problem was that I could not decide which header I liked the most. My daughter, who has her own blog at The Creative Ninjas, suggested that I have my blog followers vote for the header they like the best. Here are the three finalists.
